Our weekend was eventful in the fact that we recieved some of the worst service anywhere. The stadiums are not convenient at all and the subway is dirty smelly hot and sorta scary. Restaurant prices were just stupid as were the hotels. The whole place reeked of tourist trap, only without anything pretty to look at. nightclubs are nightclubs, they weren't any better than Miami, Chicago, or L.A.

I have visited here a few times and was underwhelmed especially considering the hype. There are better, and especially newer places. Food and drink was merely overpriced, not worth it.

Pizza tastes like carboard, with the exception of Lombardi's and 33rd & 3rd the pizza stinks. Try Stomboli's on 1st and St. Marks...it's a death wish. New York needs a serious intro to some real pizza. Oh yeah and none of the football teams are in the city and madison square garden replaced iconic architecture. My favorite sport in New York is hurdling, yeah every morning I like to run the gauntlet of trash bags lining my sidewalk, extra points are awarded if you don't step in seeping liquids.

There is nothing all that great about the place. It's very old and looks it. The surrounding urban area, hideous. The me-me-me attitude of the populace is a bore. >>> Why should somebody have to do homework and get coupon books in order to get a reasonable trip?

Gees folks,...many or most of the unkind comments reflected in some posts are surely undeserved for NYC, for sure!
I have been visiting NYC for over 40 years, and let me tell you, it is a Stimulating, and vibrant, and as interesting a city as you'd ever want to visit, for sure! Instead of unkind comments reflecting a lack of intelligence, some of the posters here shoud have done their homework BEFORE visiting New York, and therefore heightened the flavor of their Big Apple experience, right? I have always been polite to New Yorkers, and never was I ever turned down for a request of help of any kind! Expensive,...Yes, it can be, IF you did not do your homework, and do not no how to seek out relative bargains, as THEY ARE THERE to be had! Instead of complaining about $$$, why not buy a 2/for one book BEFORE going to the city, and save TONS of money? Like I said, intelligent people do theiur homework!! Enjoy NYC, and God bless! R. x

Not all that. In order to get to the good things in culture, one has to put up with crowds, traffic, overpriced *%$@ and a bunch of rude and boring people. I don't know, too much concrete and crime for me. Who would want to live in this? The surrounding areas are pretty depressing.

Old and run down. The cities of the west took up the energy long ago. It's good for shows and some fancy dinners, but all these things are overpriced and available in other cities as well.

This city is second only to L.A. as a great place to go and see some games. The Garden is fun for hockey and Yankee Stadium and Shea(although very ugly) are fun. The only negative is that the NFL teams play in Jersey and it's a pain to get to. Also, L.A. has better college football with the Coliseum and Pasadena. New York has more energy than any other city I have ever been to. It is always a great time. Try not to come in the dead of summer because it's really hot and the entire city smells like dog urine.

The whole east coast thing is overcrowded and old feeling, but this area in particular. Seems to outsiders that it's had it's day a while ago. There are some good things, all overpriced.

There is a reason why N.Y.C. is the world's most popular city. New York City is so nice I can't get enough of this city. N.Y.C. is number 1!!!

Mystery. What's so great about any of this anyway? Especially compared to anywhere else these days. The illusion seems to be stuck in the past - like more than 30 or 40 years ago.

what more is there to say? great, great city - something for everyone. while it's not a cheap place to visit, outside of lodging and parking, it's not that outrageously priced. the feeling of watching a yankees game with a nathan's hot dog in one hand and a bud in the other is like none other. rock on, new york.

NYC has a lot to offer the sports fan, but it is just too expensive beyond reason and the attitude can be rude and boorish. Too bad.
