It doesn;t get better than 6th Street for night life partying. Lake Travis Rules! No pro sports which is no fun, but Longhorns own this town.

This was OK although the summer weather was pretty dreadful hot. This would be good in the fall if you are a long horn fan. Small but above average in many ways.

Yeah Memphis, must have been an off-night here to when we were there. The "fabulous" live music street was pretty deserted as were the bars and clubs. We were not impressed w/ Austen. There was a pretty nice lake far west of town. If you have pinedust allergies stay away from this area unless you want to be wheezing and sneezing the whole trip.

Pay a little extra and get a nice hotel downtown on the water. Take a cab to the 6th street bar district. There are more beautiful women than possibly imagineable. People are friendly and interesting. Make an effort to meet locals and have them show you the best that Austin has to offer and you will love it.

Great college town! The Texas teams are some of the top in the nation in almost every sport. Great food and nightlife. Could use a professional team and apparently is getting an arena football team soon (close but not quite).

Visited once and was not ompressed. Currently very over-rated. Pretty much a college town for sports too. The are are a few hills and lakes far outside of town, but the summer weather is pretty brutal.

austin is a little slim on sports other than college athletics. There is a fair amount of nightlife dntn, but don't expect much in the didning scene here where 4 star means texmex and bbq. Unbelievably oppressive heat in summer. It might be great if it where in another state.

Texas fans are NOT friendly. Tailgating is decent in some areas but very spread out. Go behind the stadium (permit only ) for the best scene. 6th St is fantastic for barhopping.
