Take a ripping but is a nice place. Philly has a great historical area, good bars, excellent food and nice waterfront. Hit Legends before an Egles game near the Linc. The restaurant in Citizens Bank park is really good. The cheese steaks are great at either location and the Big O diner is a nice breakfast joint.

It's really hilarious how the ratings here vary so widely. I've been to Philly (and The 'Burgh as well) and I've always liked them.

Okay, Hayseeds, I'll set ya's all straight:). I'm a Philly Filly, but I'll try not to be biased--besides, Philly really needs no defending, and as Drew Carey says, Philly Rocks!!! What don't we have??? We have nice, genuine and friendly people who are 1000% passionate about their teams, college and pro, and most of our reputation for our jeering of opponents is undeserved and is actually in good fun....Hey, if ya's can't deal with with a little snideness and good-natured humor, then go buy a helmet, life's rough:). We have mountains to the north, shore to the west, the Nittany Lions a little west, but I guess I should stick to Philly, eh? Okay, stay out of North Philly if you know what's good for ya, but the rest is great. It truly IS the City of Brotherly Love, and the people are beyond nice, and welcoming as well. Hit the Army/Navy game for the absolute BEST time of your life, go to Dicken's Inn on 2nd for you more matured-minded folk, or even O'Neals if you must stay in the South Street area. Hit Old City, tho, for the most diverse offerings, and there you can find pretty much anything you want and is suited for all palates. Personally, I love hanging out at the big Irish Pub on Walnut (the small IP is really nice, too) on a college football Saturday, and I think it is THERE that you will find a very good representation of what Philly is all about. Good food, great icy's, great fans of ALL schools, and just a nice, warm and friendly vibe. Look, Hayseeds, Philly is a misunderstood town, but we here know what it's all about, and that's just fine with us....Don't hate us 'cuz we're pretty!!!:))

Well, where to start. Cold, miserable, dreary...Just like the fans!!! I believe its a rule in Philly you have to have a mustache- this goes for the women too- The rats must be upset they tore up the Vet, that place smelled like a urinal, and the fans were absolutely terrible- show some class Philly, even if you will never win a major championship.

This is a real city. History, diversity, neighborhoods, culture, and sports. Whatever you want, there is a lot to do there. Great town.

Filthy-delphia sucks. It's garbage. The people are obnoxious slobs. South St the best place for nightlife? It sucked.

First and foremost, the Philly sport scene can be summed up in one word: Passion. The Santa Claus story is very old and brought out every 3 weeks. This happened eons ago when your grandfather was still breast feeding. Sure the boos are plentiful when justified. This sports knowledge of the average Philly sports fan is well above the norm. The bad rap is pretty much perpetuated by regurgitated stories that tend to become exponentially exagerrated each time they are told. Getting down to business, the new baseball stadium is top shelf. I have been to many of the other top rated stadiums (PNC, SBC, Camden Yards, etc). I can honestly tell you that there is nothing like the concourses at the new park. No matter where you are, you can easily see the field. There are plenty of specialty foods also. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT GENOS. The lines are always too long and a real Philadelphian doesn't eat that crap unless they are looking for an all night place after partying. Try the Pizza or a Schmitter! The beer selection is also great, with plenty of choices for even the biggest beer snob. The trick here is to get SRO tix when available because you can literally stand anywhere around the concourse and see the game. The new Eagles stadium provides a great atmosphere for football. The food in the main areas is mediocre at best, basically normal fare. I have not experienced the suite level, but I understand that the food is very good. Sightlines are great and there really is not a bad seat in the place. Tailgating is rite of passage for any Eagles fan. As long as you are an Eagles fan, you should have no problem hanging out before game time. If you are an out of town Eagles fan, make that known and most likely, people will offer you beer and talk football with you. (read that sentence again. I know that goes against everything ever written about these fans, but I can tell you that it is true. I am a season ticket holder and more aware than the national regurgitators on Fox). The Wachovia Center is another great venue that is fairly new. Upper level is fine for Flyers games, although even these seats will set you back a lot. A Flyers game is still a great experience, but the corporate feeling in the building takes away from the true "Spectrum" feel. Sixers games are fun, but at worst you'll want to see in the lower portion of the upper level and only on the sides. Sitting high behind the basket isn't that great. The Red Bell Brewery is packed before and after games and during intermissions or half time. The main bar is draft beer only. The back bar sells liquor and smoking is allowed. As always if you expect to scalp tickets, they are always available. Be careful of counterfeits and use good judgement when dealing with scalpers. Some are honest and just making a living, others are scum and realize that you may have no idea what a real ticket looks like. Based on the game, you can probably haggle. Also, either bring a pocket schedule or have a good idea of section layout of the stadium because these guys will tell you anything. As for nightlife, South Street was the place to be a LOOOOONG time ago. I understand that it is a popular and famous place in the city. This is not the place to go. Go to Old City (2nd and Chestnut area) or Manayunk (NW part of city). Old City has trendy places as well as laid-back good time spots. This is the choice if you are staying in the city. If you have a car or for a $15 cab ride (each way), Manayunk is a great time. There are plenty of bars on Main Street. This area consists of a lot of college students and young adults that graduated college and work in center city, making it a good spot to meet some women. If you are interested in gentlemen clubs, there is no doubt that Delilah's is the place to go (to save $15 bring your ticket stub, they usually won't charge a cover). There are a few other quality spots but if you are looking for quality any night of the week the Den will never let you down. There are a lot of quality hotels in Philly, but I live here so I can't really give you a good suggestion. I guess, let your bank account be your guide when booking a room. I know a lot of teams stay at the Four Seasons and a few stay at the Sheraton in Society Hill (which is veryclose to the Old City area I mentioned above). There are plenty of restaurants that can fit into any budget. If you must have a cheesesteak, and you are stuck in the center city area, I would go to Jim's at 4th and South (this is the ONLY reason that you should go to South St!!). I hope that this review has helped you. Enjoy the city and any games that you go to. Email me at cashtheticket@yahoo.com if you have any additonal questions.

philly is nice, ive been living here for 2 years now. the food is one of the best in the country. great pretzels. and the cheesesteaks rule(only go 2 times a moneth though). go to jims on south street. the hotels r decent. the night scene is my favorite, south street, and center city r very cool. the sports scene is good, but originally im from baltimore, and the only team ill support r the eagles, and phillies. the new parks r very good, and cozy compared to the vet. the sixers r good to watch when iverson is healthy at the wachovia center. the spectrum should be burned to brick though. smells like pee. overall my second city is nice, im feeling it.

The city has alot of different and great food. The sport since here is great, the only downfall, dont even think about cheering for the other team and not alot to do around the stadiums. Night life is pretty good, just except it to all end at exactly 2am. But overall, great city, I always love coming here.

A trashy, crime-infested city with unbelievably obnoxious people. The only - and I mean only - positive thing about Philadelphia is the Wachovia (formerly First Union) Center. But unless you're going to a Flyers' or Sixers' game, don't waste your time in this pitiful excuse for a city.

Philly fans are insane. There's no way for a visitor to get to the Vet/ FU Center (except the nasty subway). There's nothing near the stadium. DO NOT WEAR OPPOSING TEAM COLORS (if you want to make it home alive). Stay downtown. lots of deals to be had. South St or Manyunk (need a car) have the best bars.
