The Pro Bowl matches all-star teams from the AFC and NFC and in 2010 will be played in Miami, one week prior to the Super Bowl.  This will mark the first time since 1980 that the game will not be played in Honolulu.

The game, like most all-star games, bears little resemblance to the intense battles that occur on NFL gridirons throughout the season and playoffs.  The rules of the game are changed (no rush allowed on kicks and limited blitzing, among others), mostly to prevent injury.  Also, stars from the Super Bowl participants will not participate since the game is seven days prior to the Super Bowl.

Future Pro Bowl Game Dates

The 2010 game is the only Pro Bowl with a set date at this time.  It is possible the NFL will keep the new format of playing it in the Super Bowl host city, or could decide to return the game to Hawaii.
